i think the only show i’ll be attending at nxne is this mans.
despite paul’s fears of his new album diaper island being a bit lame ‘because of the baby’ (which i think was really offensive to babies everywhere), it’s pretty fucking great. more rock (like skelliconnection) and less clicks and beeps (like soft airplane).
i also like him because he recorded/produced each(?) of women’s full lengths in his basement. i love women. i love that he maybe borrowed some of their guitar sounds for diaper island.
this was going to be longer and more of an effort but i lost my brain. if you are smart you will check out his entire discography and catch him this saturday at the great hall. braids is also on the bill which is a band i’ve been pretty good at yapping about over the past few years.
ps: fun story! i’ve attempted to catch him live twice and showed up so late to both that the most i caught was one song. go me!
edit: unrelated BUT RELATED: a friend recommended a restaurant/bar called ‘the atlantic’ . i went to their website and saw their unusual menu (‘dishography’…ehhhhh) and listed for march 8th was “women’s day” with a picture of women’s album cover. META. or something. people say that a lot now- meta.
